Cillian Murphy’s son Aran cast in new Taika Waititi film with Wednesday star Jenna Ortega

Cillian Murphy’s son Aran has been cast in a new film fronted by Wednesday star Jenna Ortega.

US showbiz website Deadline reports that Aran has joined the cast of Klara And The Sun, the feature film adaptation of Nobel-winning novelist Kazuo Ishiguro’s bestseller, directed by Hunt For The Wilderpeople and What We Do In The Shadows director Taika Waititi.

The film stars Ortega and Enchanted star Amy Adams.

Ortega plays an ‘Artificial Friend’ bought by Adams for her daughter Josie, played by newcomer Mia Tharia, with Aran Murphy playing her best friend, Rick.

Aged 16, Aran Murphy is the younger son of Cork-born Oscar-nominated Oppenheimer star Murphy’s two sons with Kilkenny-born visual artist Yvonne McGuinness. His brother Malachy is 18 and the family live in Dublin, having relocated from London several years ago.

Aran previously played the title role of Hamnet in the play written and directed by Bush Moukarzel and Ben Kidd that debuted in Dublin’s Abbey Theatre before moving to London.
