The green jacket of four-time Masters winner Arnold Palmer has allegedly been stolen along with a number of items from Augusts National Golf Club over a span of thirteen years.
Former warehouse coordinator Richard Brendan Globensky has been accused of transporting stolen memorabilia worth billions of dollars.
The 39-year-old is alleged to have carried out the theft between 2009 and 2022 where the items were transported to Florida for resale.
According to court documents cited by the Chicago Tribune, Globensky is set to plead guilty on May 15.
Palmer’s green jacket is among some of the items stolen however neither deferral investigators or Augusta National have confirmed this.
The jacket was reported missing in 2022 and it was since recovered by a member of Augusta after a collector was contacted and a private sale was agreed.
Palmer’s jacket was bought for a staggering $3.6 million. FBI agents seized the jacket, which was later verified as authentic.
Palmer is routinely honoured at Augusta for his four Masters victories, he was one of the three esteemed guests at the traditional opening ceremony alongside Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player.
The golf legend died in 2016 aged 87 and the club covered a chair with his jacket sitting on the course during the Masters.
