With their hit song Doomsday Blue, Bambie Thug beat five other acts to win the competition on Friday night’s Late Late Show.

They will now advance to the Eurovision semi-finals in Malmo, Sweden, which begin on May 7. If Bambie Thug progresses to the grand final, they will perform again on Saturday, May 11.

Cork-born Bambie Thug is “a force to be reckoned with”, a completely independent artist who has amassed over 45k monthly listeners via their unique, self-styled “Ouija Pop”. Known for incredible live performances, Bambie was most recently seen performing at the packed-out Download Festival Debut.

In an eccentric but energetic performance, Bambie Thug quickly became the audience’s favourite act on the night and they regularly serenaded the performer with chants of “Bambie, Bambie” during the live show. Alongside this, #sendthewitch, a hashtag in reference to the artist, was trending on X in Ireland.

Bambie Thug received very high praise from the judges in studio and praised the “different” act.

Former Eurovision second place finisher Sonia said Bambie Thug will “shock the socks off” of Malmo in May.

The judges – Arthur Gouranlian, Louise Duffy, Gearóid Farrelly and Liverpool’s Sonia were complimentary of all acts who performed in front of a live studio audience.

The other five artists were Ailsha with Go Tobann; JyellowL with Judas; Isabella Kearney with Let Me Be The Fire; Erica-Cody with Love Me Like I Do and boyband Next in Line who sang Love Like Us.
