Irish men to embark on their first-ever Pakistan tour in 2025

The details about the tour isn’t officially finalised and will be released in due course

In a historic development for Ireland’s Men’s cricket team, an agreement has been made between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Cricket Ireland (CI), which see Ireland’s Men’s team tour Pakistan in 2025. This will be the first-ever Pakistan tour in their history.

The agreement was finalized after the PCB chief and Pakistan’s Internal Affairs Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, and Cricket Ireland’s Chair, Brian MacNeice, met each other in Dublin and arrived at the agreement.

“We are delighted to have welcomed Chairman Naqvi to Dublin and had a very productive meeting. The presence of the PCB chairman in Ireland was very much appreciated and is a strong indicator of the excellent relationship between the two boards,” MacNiece said.

“Discussions were wide-ranging and included exploring men’s, women’s and Wolves-level [Ireland A] fixtures in the future. I’m very pleased that we agreed to a men’s tour next year – this will be yet another historic first, coming after the tour to Pakistan by our senior women in 2022.”

MacNiece mentioned in his statement that discussions also took place on the recent developments in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and the participation of Irish players in the esteemed league.

While the dates are yet to be finalised, ESPN Cricinfo reported that the Irish will visit Pakistan in August and September next year. The series will involve three T20Is and three ODIs and was already a part of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Future Tours Programme (FTP) scheduled for September 2025.

Notably, Pakistan have been Ireland’s opponent in their inaugural men’s and women’s Tests, and the first meeting between both nations happened in 1962 in Dublin. However, only in the current century did a team from Ireland travel to Pakistan.

The Irish women toured Pakistan before their male counterparts in November 2022, playing three ODIs and T20Is against the Pakistan women’s team. The Pakistan men’s side is currently in Ireland, playing a three-match T20I series, which is 1-1 after two games.
