Aideen Walsh and Jessica Ross both saw their hopes of winning the 2024 European Mid-Amateur Championship in Latvia run out of steam late in the final round.
Walsh carded a two-over 74 for a three-over total to share third place, three shots behind eventual winner Alexandra Farret of France at Jurmala Golf Club and Hotel.
The Lahinch star was in good shape heading into the back nine as three birdies and a pair of bogeys saw her turn in 35 and grab a share of the lead alongside Ross.
Her challenge faded with bogeys on the 11th and 12th but a birdie on 13 kept her hopes alive and she lay within one of the lead.
A bogey on 14 and birdie on 16 left her still in touch but a seven on the par-5 17th ended her challenge.
For Clandeboye’s Ross, she held a share of the lead through 12 holes of her final round and took the lead on her own with a birdie on 13.
Her challenge unraveled quickly towards the end with a double bogey, double bogey finish to sign for a back nine of 40 and a final round of 76 for a four-over total.
