The day-long competition is for teams of three, with a three-course meal and wine included, followed by the prize-giving ceremony in the Blainroe clubhouse. The main prize for the event will be the PX Clark Memorial Trophy.
At a recent meeting, Rotary Club of Wicklow President, Trevor Wood was pleased to welcome Trinity Skoda, once again, as the main sponsor.
“This is the major fundraising event of Wicklow Rotary in their endeavour to raise finance for humanitarian causes and assist charities both local and in developing countries,” he said.
“Over the years, the club has received huge support from the local golfing community and businesses, and it is expected that this year will see an increase in the participation by teams representing all groups of the community.
“We in Rotary appreciate the generous sponsorship of Trinity Skoda, which allows our committee to organise a highly successful day out, but also permits us to fund Wicklow charities, youth training projects and other voluntary groups.
“The Trinity Skoda team in Bollarney are demonstrating strong community commitment as our premier sponsors, which is appreciated by Rotary and the Golf Classic Committee led by Alistair Smith.”
Beneficiaries from former events include the Wicklow cancer support group, Samaritans, Wicklow Mental Health Initiative, Wicklow RNLI and Foroige – The Way Project.
On a broader level, Wicklow Rotary also supports local community schools and youth endeavours as well as the work of Rotary International in Third World assistance to deliver life-changing and sustainable improvement to communities in need.
Dave Collier, head of sales for Trinity Skoda, commented: “We are happy to be part of what is a major fundraising event as we acknowledge the important role which Rotary plays in support of charities and other community projects.
“It’s a particular pleasure to work with Alistair Smith under whose guidance this event has proved to be a consistently enjoyable and successful with the financial benefits going back into the community to support worthwhile charities which are founded on volunteerism.”
