Here is a selection of people starting new roles with Aviva Life & Pensions, Camile Thai Group, Carbery Group, Citibank, European Advertising Standards Alliance and William Fry.
Helen Nolan has been appointed as chair of the board of Aviva Life & Pensions Ireland, replacing Paul Raleigh who stepped down from the position after six years at the end of May. In her executive career, Helen held a number of senior roles with Bank of Ireland Group, including group secretary and group chief internal auditor. She is also a non-executive director of Dole plc, Companion Insurance and the Institute of Directors Ireland. “We are delighted to welcome Helen, and we thank Paul Raleigh for his leadership and dedication over the past six years,” said Barry Cudmore, CEO at Aviva Life & Pensions.
Daniel Greene has been appointed as CEO of restaurant chain Camile Thai Group. Previously the chain’s managing director, he brings a decade of leadership experience within the company. He takes over from founder Brody Sweeney, who steps back from daily operations and will remain a majority shareholder. Daniel brings his deep-rooted understanding of the company’s ethos and management, combined with his leadership acumen, to guiding Camile Thai Group into its next chapter of growth and innovation. Recent additions to the group include a new outlet at Terminal 2, Dublin Airport, and three Petite Camile food-to-go formats within Circle K service stations.
Vincent O’Donovan, current chair of Bandon Co-op, has succeeded Cormac O’Keeffe as chair of Carbery Group, the West Cork based international ingredients, flavours and award-winning cheese producer. Vincent will hold the chair role for two years. He has served on Bandon Co-op’s board for nine years and as its chair since 2022. Vincent has been Carbery vice-chair for the past two years. He completed the ICOS Diploma in Corporate Governance, UCC, and recently qualified as a chartered director with the Irish Management Institute. Vincent is a dairy farmer in Annaghbeg, Ballinhassig, Co Cork. Cormac O’Keeffe also steps down from the Carbery and Lisavaird boards.
Ignacio (Nacho) Gutiérrez-Orranti has been appointed as as CEO of Citibank Europe plc (CEP), headquartered in Dublin and is overall manager of relationships with Citi’s clients across Europe. He takes on this role in addition to his existing Europe Cluster and Banking head role, which he has held since November 2023. He has over 30 years of experience in financial services. He has been at Citi for 20 years and was most recently co-head of Citi’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Banking Capital Markets and Advisory business, where he led a team of more than 2,000 bankers in 54 markets.
Orla Twomey, CEO of the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), has been appointed as chair of the European Advertising Standards Alliance (EASA) in Brussels. Orla has a wealth of knowledge in advertising and self-regulation. She worked with EASA for a number of years as the self-regulation organisation (SRO) vice-chair. She will carry out her new EASA role along with her existing role as CEO of the ASA. As EASA chair, Orla will work with her fellow officers to support the ad SR network to set out high standards for advertising and self-regulatory systems, and work with European and international partners to address common challenges.
Susan Walsh has joined the technology department of law firm William Fry as a consultant. Susan specialises in commercial and technology law, particularly in drafting and negotiation of complex, mission-critical IT outsourcing and implementation projects, AI and emerging technologies, supply and distribution arrangements, intellectual property licensing, privacy and data protection law, as well as advising on marketing content and branding. Prior to joining William Fry, Susan previously worked in Macquarie Group and MinterEllison in Australia. “I am delighted to welcome Susan to our technology team,” said Leo Moore, head of William Fry’s Technology department, which advises clients on intellectual property, data protection, and technology.
