Fuel prices tick higher in July – AA Ireland

Must read

Average petrol prices rose by one cent to €1.80 per litre in July, while diesel prices are up by almost three cents to €1.74 per litre, the latest AA Ireland monthly Fuel Price Survey shows.

AA noted that crude oil prices continue to remain around $83 per barrel.

The second planned reinstatement of excise duty on August 1 will see an extra four cents being added to the petrol price while diesel will go up by an additional three cents per litre.

However, AA said that electric vehicle owners should see a reduction in their fuelling costs, mainly due to the recent decrease in ESB charging rates as well as competitive 24-hour rates from energy provider YUNO Energy.”

EV owners are now expected to pay an average of €877 a year to cover the national average of 17,000 km a year, a decrease of €69 a year.

Kennifer Kilduff, Head of Marketing & PR for the AA (Ireland), said the clock is ticking for the Government to decide on whether or not the increase in excise duty will come into effect or not.
