Sara Maybury, store manager for Fast Fix in Dundrum, Dublin, chats about a change in career late on that sees her work with gold and jewels – but the real gems are to be found in working with staff who enjoy the challenge

In the morning, I have cereal and coffee and walk our dog. I am within walking distance but if I am opening the shop I usually get dropped in by my husband on his way to work. In Mark’s car Newstalk is on and in mine it’s RTÉ Radio One.
The first half hour is usually quiet and I get paperwork done, though sometimes customers will be waiting at 9am.
