With the season-ending FedEx Cup playoffs about to get underway in Memphis, the PGA Tour have announced details of the 2025 schedule and those who hoped to see major changes will be disappointed as it virtually mirrors that of 2024.
Comprising 36 regular season tournaments and three playoff events, the Tour will once again get underway in Hawaii with the Sentry – a Signature Event – and conclude at East Lake with the Tour Championship.
“The new schedule and competitive changes introduced in 2024 were significant steps toward creating the best version of the PGA Tour for our fans and players,” said Commissioner Jay Monahan. “Fields were significantly stronger across the board, while the Signature events provided fans more opportunities to see the Tour’s best competing head-to-head. As we enter the second year of this reimagined schedule, one thing remains a constant — winning on the Tour continues to rank among the most difficult and rewarding accomplishments in sport.”
The two minor changes see former tournament sponsor Wells Fargo replaced by Truist – another banking institution – and the tournament moves to Philadelphia Cricket Club with traditional venue Quail Hollow set to host the PGA Championship a few weeks later, and the RBC Canadian Open and Jack Nicklaus’ Memorial Tournament switch dates so that the Canadian Open, being held at TPC Toronto in Osprey Valley, immediately precedes the U.S. Open at Oakmont.
The Open Championship at Royal Portrush will once again follow the co-sanctioned Genesis Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club, while the BMW Championship – the second of the three FedEx Cup Playoff events – will be held at Caves Valley in Maryland after being staged at altitude at Castle Pines Golf Club in Colorado in 2024.
Signature Event eligibility will also largely remain the same as it was in 2024 with the top 50 in the FedEx Cup rankings at the conclusion of this week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship all receiving automatic entry, but field of at least 72 are guaranteed for each of the nine regular season Signature Events.
