Cherilus, 40, reportedly caused a disturbance and engaged in disorderly behavior on the Saturday night flight.

Aircrew reportedly contacted the ground crew and requested State Police assistance at 2 am ET on Sunday.

Cops boarded the flight and told the former Tampa Bay Buccaneer to disembark the plane at Logan Airport.

Cherilus was allegedly unwilling to leave and was forced off by state troopers and arrested, according to a statement to the MailOnline.

“Troopers verbally commanded Cherilus to leave the plane, but he became irate and uncooperative,” the State Police said.

“Eventually, Troopers escorted Cherilus to the jet bridge and placed him under arrest for Disorderly Conduct and Disturbing a Flight Crew.”

A spokesperson for Delta said the flight was diverted due to an “unruly customer,” according to The New York Post.

“Delta has zero tolerance for unlawful behavior and will cooperate with law enforcement to that end,” the statement said.

“We apologize to our customers for the delay in their travel.”

The other impacted flyers were moved onto a new flight to Dublin that left on Sunday night.

Cherilus is scheduled to be arraigned at the East Boston District Court on Monday.

The NFL star retired from the sport in 2017 after appearing in 132 games.

Cherilus, who was born in Haiti, had a successful professional career at three pro teams.

He was taken 17th overall by the Detroit Lions in 2008 from Boston College.

Travel horror stories

Althought most flyers do not encounter major issues on their travels, some people have had had terrible experiences, The U.S. Sun has previously reported.

After five years with the Lions, he was signed by the Indianapolis Colts and became the highest-paid right tackle in the sport at the time.

Cherilus then joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015 before he retired.

He spent all of his early football life in Massachusetts, where he played high school football at Sommerville High.

FLIGHTS FROM HELL

These flyers have not been the only ones to face delays and disruption to their journeys this summer, The U.S. Sun has previously reported.

One family recalled how they were followed through the airport and onto their flight by a man who had a ticket for another journey.
