Mayo charity shop to open new premises this week – news – Western People

Special guests, including Mayo footballer Matthew Ruane, will open the new Enable Ireland shop on Main Street, Castlebar, during an afternoon of family entertainment from 12 noon on Friday next, August 23rd.

Enable Ireland has provided community-based services to children and adults with physical disabilities and their families in Mayo since 1992. For 25 of those years, it has had a presence in Castlebar with its charity shop on Hopkins Road. Their shop has now relocated to a larger premises on Main Street which will offer even more of pre-loved, new, and vintage treasures. 

Enable Ireland is marking the occasion by inviting the public to a special launch party that will include entertainment for all ages and light refreshments. Kids young and old are also invited to have their photo taken with Mickey Mouse, plus, there will be jellies and bubbles on offer for children. A ‘golden ticket’ hunt is taking place during the event too, with an array of prizes to be won which have been generously donated by fellow Castlebar businesses. To top off the afternoon’s entertainment, local musicians, Sean Healy and Friends, will be performing traditional music.

During next Friday’s launch, visitors will receive a further 10% discount on any items purchased in the new shop. It’s a fantastic opportunity to browse with many gems to find at low prices. All profits from the Enable Ireland shop in Castlebar support local disability services for children and adults with disabilities. 

In Mayo, Enable Ireland run a Connected Home Support and transport service for children with disabilities. The service provides individual in-home support and group respite sessions and also provides a transport service to bring children to and from activities in the local area. Approximately 80 children living in Mayo avail of the service.
