Philip Rothwell, owner of Fairwood Stables in Tinahely, will open his gates to the public on Saturday, August 31, at 12 p.m., as part of Horse Racing Ireland Ownership’s national trainer open mornings initiative.

Philip and his wife Niamh will invite the public into their home, offering racing fans and those interested in racehorse ownership a unique opportunity to see behind the scenes at a successful training yard that has boasted 43 winners this season.

The informative event will be hosted by Marietta Doran, a fashion and racing expert known for her regular appearances on TV and at major horse racing events throughout the country.

Attendees will get a rare glimpse into the daily operations of the yard, and will meet the team that plays a crucial role in the yard’s success, including some of the jockeys and staff who work tirelessly to ensure that everything runs smoothly.

Rachael Rothwell and Stephen Laird, the stables’ equine physiotherapist and equine dentist, will additionally share insights into how they contribute to horses’ wellbeing, while a representative from Mayo Healthcare will be on hand to discuss the benefits of their equine supplements.

Guests will also get an exclusive look at ‘The Racing Manager’, an innovative app designed to enhance owner’s experiences by offering real-time updates and detailed insights into their horse’s progress.

After the open morning, the day will continue with a visit to the historic Coollattin House for a private tour and refreshments, with the venue offering the perfect setting to relax, unwind, and reflect on the morning’s activities.

“We hope you can join us for this exciting event – it’s a wonderful opportunity to gain deeper insight into our operations and meet the people who contribute to our ongoing success,” Philip Rothwell commented.
