Vile footage on social media has shown Ireland football supporters attempting to rile up England fans by singing a sickening chant about the late Queen Elizabeth II.

England celebrated a 2-0 victory over Ireland in Dublin on Saturday that got Lee Carsley’s reign as the Three Lions interim manager off to a convincing victorious start.

Former Ireland youth representatives Declan Rice and Jack Grealish were the goalscorers in the comfortable win that left Irish fans irked.

Sunday marked two years since the Queen passed away at the age of 96 after 70 years on the throne.

Hostilities have always been high between the two sets of footballing nations that have competed only four times since the turn of the century.

Thousands made the trip to the Aviva stadium as England dashed Ireland’s hopes of pulling off what would have been a famous triumph over their neighbours.

But, a group of Ireland supporters stood nearby a group of England fans have gone viral after chanting a vile song mocking the passing of the Queen.

The mob pointed at passing supporters and repeatedly shouted ‘Lizzie’s in a box’, with some England fans retaliating with gestures of their own.

Police could be seen escorting the walking England fans as they passed through one area, however, there was no signs of any physical altercations taking place.

Viewers of the video were quick to reply to the footage that has so far been viewed over 200,000 times on one X channel, with many fuming at the chanting.

One post hitting back at the video stated: ‘I’m Irish. These lads are clowns. There’s decent Irish & There’s decent English. Surround yourself with good folk, doesn’t matter where you’re from.’

Another similarly added: ‘Leave them to it, if it makes their little lives happier.’

England are next in action against Finland on Tuesday when they play in front of home support for the first time since their emotional Euro 2024 final defeat.
