Sport Ireland extends its congratulations to Paralympics Ireland and the athletes of Team Ireland on their successes at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
Ireland sent a 35-strong team to the Games with athletes competing across nine sports. The team finished the games with six medals.
Úna May, CEO of Sport Ireland, said: “Here at Sport Ireland we’d like to welcome home Team Ireland from the Paralympics and congratulate them on their achievements.
“They’ve shown inspiring dedication, resilience, and extraordinary performances. Ireland is immensely proud of their hard work. Thank you for representing the country with such passion and determination.”
John Foley, Chairperson of Sport Ireland, said: “It was wonderful to see the culmination of so much work and preparation for the athletes and their support teams pay off. We’re all immensely proud of them for their achievements on the global stage.”
Mr Foley was in attendance in Dublin Airport as families, friends and well-wishers welcomed Team Ireland home.
Sport Ireland provides a range of funding streams to Paralympics Ireland including High Performance Programme Funding, Direct Athlete Funding, Administration & Operations Funding, and Paralympic Games Support Funding.
Combined across all funding streams, Sport Ireland will have invested over €8m in Paralympics Ireland throughout the Paris Cycle 2021-2024.
