My week with Celia Holman Lee: Fields full with fabulous fashion

EUROPE’S largest outdoor event, the National Ploughing Championships is once again taking place and we at the Holman Lee Agency are privileged to be able to attend once again this year.

All of the favourite attractions are set to return this year, from Tuesday, September 17 until Thursday, September 19, and with everything from retail centres to sheep shearing, along with live music and dancing, there is something for everyone.

The 93rd championship will see hundreds of thousands of people flock to the Ratheniska site in Co Laois for fun, farming and indeed, fashion.

We at the Holman Lee Agency host a fashion show every day each year at the magnificent championships and to get into the swing of things, we took the trip to Portlaoise for the launch of the three-day event.

Each day, we will be hosting three fashion shows. Usually packed to full capacity, the models will be showcasing the latest autumn and winter styles for both men and women.

Also, on Wednesday, September 18, there will be a Best Dressed Lady competition. Shaws are sponsoring the Best Dressed Man, so we look forward to that contest too.

I am excited that the National Ploughing Championships is only around the corner, as we always have a blast.

It is a wonderful opportunity to project our agency on a national level and for the models to strut their stuff for hundreds of spectators.

Anna May McHugh, the managing director of the National Ploughing Championships since 1973, is the queen of the event!

She is now 90-years-old and we had the pleasure of meeting her at the launch. What a lovely lady, and a true inspiration.

It will be a busy few days as always this coming September 17 but we will enjoy it all the same, as always.
