Horse Racing Ireland (HRI), on Friday, published the fixture list for 2025 which will see the overall number of fixtures remain at 395.
All but four of the fixtures have been allocated, with the remainder retained as floating fixtures to be utilised during the year to deal with time periods when there is very high demand for opportunities to run from the horse population.
The Board of HRI approved the fixture list at their meeting this week, as well as a contingency fixture list to reassign Tipperary’s fixtures in the event of the track closing in 2025 to accommodate the development of an All-Weather Track there.
Racecourses were asked to apply to stage Tipperary fixtures in the event of closure, and those contingencies are as below.
All fixtures have been reassigned in full, except for the October 5 mixed meeting, which will see the three Graded NH races go to Gowran Park on Saturday, 04 October, and the Listed Concorde Stakes moving to the Curragh on Sunday, 05 October.
Jonathan Mullin, HRI’s Director of Racing, said:
“The number of horses in training in Ireland this year remain at similar levels to 2023 and therefore it was felt prudent not to increase the number of fixtures for 2025. The fixture list process for 2025 involved consultation with a wide variety of industry stakeholders and we acknowledge their strong engagement throughout. In particular, given the need to produce a ‘shadow’ 2025 fixture list to accommodate the planned development of an All-Weather Track at Tipperary, we thank the racecourses for their considerable contributions.”
