One of Portugal’s most iconic golf courses, The Old Course at Vilamoura, has unveiled a revitalized pub concept for golfers as part of its extensive clubhouse update.

The new establishment, which aims to complement the Old Course’s historic legacy, will offer comfort food and pub classics elevated for today. The drinks menu features refreshing pitcher cocktails, Portuguese wines, and a selection of international beers.

The clubhouse will be adorned by vintage touches to offer golfers and visitors a relaxing, lived-in space in which to unwind after a round or simply enjoy a special occasion in convivial surroundings, a community focal point at the beating heart of the historic Old Course.

The second oldest course in the Algarve, part of the Dom Pedro Golf Vilamoura collection managed by DETAILS, like many in the portfolio, has undergone significant on-course improvements over the last few months, and the new food and beverage options at the new-look clubhouse will help to elevate the overall experience.

US-based hospitality consulting agency, Streetsense, has played a key role in the project, delivering the overall concept direction, market assessment, and visual identity, alongside menus, and interior design direction, to ensure a cohesive concept vision and efficient operations.

With over 20 years of experience in hospitality, residential, retail, food and beverage, and corporate projects across the globe, Streetsense is set to play an important part in other relevant projects scheduled by DETAILS to be announced in 2025.

Nuno Sepúlveda, Co-CEO of DETAILSsaid: “We are very proud to have such a historic and revered venue like the Old Course as part of our portfolio, and we are determined to ensure we create an authentic and relaxed venue with a unique gastronomic experience for our members, guests and the local community.

“Working with Streetsense will raise everyone’s game. We know they have worked with some formidable partners in the past and the Old Course is a fitting challenge. We will make sure that every aspect of the destination is curated to perfection.”

Brian Taff, CEO at Streetsense, said: “The Old Course was designed not just as a haven for golfers, but as a true gathering place and community anchor. Streetsense is deeply honored that our Hospitality Consulting team has the opportunity to partner with DETAILS’ dedicated team to revitalize this historic property bringing together a thoughtful concept with innovative menus, seamless operations, and inspiring design. Together, we’re excited to bring new energy to a timeless place and respected tradition.”

The Old Course has undergone a fundamental and sustainable series of updates over the last few months, with the new state-of-the-art clubhouse set to open in November.

The new clubhouse will feature upgrades to the entrance, golf shop, living room, and terrace, creating a classic and elegant atmosphere that complements the course’s legacy. The golf shop will offer a boutique vision, showcasing top brands in golf apparel and equipment for a curated shopping experience.

Visitors will be able to unwind and enjoy a variety of simple, well-seasoned, freshly prepared dishes

As a result of the renovations, the Old Course will be transformed into a premium gated club with an elevated experience, offering a personalised service, VIP concierge and world-class playing conditions.

Dom Pedro Golf Vilamoura, IAGTO’s pick as Portugal’s 2024 Best Golf Resort, also includes the Victoria Course, the former home of the Portugal Masters, which is currently under renovation.
