Tesco Ireland has announced plans to create almost 1,200 temporary festive jobs across its Superstores and Extra stores nationwide.
The company said that after the holiday season, temporary employees will have the opportunity to apply for any permanent roles that have become available, either in existing stores or in new Tesco locations planned for the coming year.
The retailer said that the roles come with a competitive reward and benefits package.
“We are delighted to be creating almost 1,200 additional festive roles across the country this Christmas,” said Maurice Kelly, People Director at Tesco Ireland.
“At Tesco, we know how important it is to offer meaningful and flexible job opportunities, alongside offering existing colleagues the chance to benefit from additional seasonal hours too,” he added.
Last week, research from hiring platform Indeed showed there has been a slight fall in the availability of part-time Christmas jobs compared to last year.
The company said that on 25 October seasonal job postings were down 3% on 2023 numbers.
Searches for Christmas jobs, as a share of all searches in Ireland, are running at the strongest pace in recent years, up 5% on 2023 levels.
