Sligo Champion
Images of Sligo and the Wild Atlantic Way were beamed into the homes of over 350,000 people in Denmark this week, when a special Ireland episode of a popular travel show called Anne-Vibeke Rejser (meaning: ‘Anne-Vibeke Travels’) aired on Danish TV channel DK4. Filming took place here earlier this year and was supported by Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.
In the episode, viewers saw presenter Anne-Vibeke Isaksen visit Drumcliffe Church, enjoy a surfing lesson at the National Surf Centre on Strandhill Beach and a seaweed bath experience with VOYA Seaweed Baths.
Emer Mac Diarmada, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for the Nordic Region, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to support the production of this special Wild Atlantic Way episode of Anne-Vibeke Rejser. Viewers across Denmark saw her take in our coastline and city streets, as well as our fantastic scenery, culture, attractions and, most importantly, our local characters.
“Publicity and broadcasts like this are a key element of Tourism Ireland’s programme of activity. The episode was viewed by around 350,000 people, so it’s a wonderful opportunity to inspire travellers in Denmark to put the Wild Atlantic Way on their holiday wish-list for 2025 and beyond.”
