Lawlor takes sixth as Lee wins in Australia – Irish Golfer Magazine

Brendan Lawlor didn’t get the final day charge he was looking for as Simon Seungmin Lee reigned supreme at the ISPS HANDA All Abilities Australian Championship at Kingston Heath.

Lawlor slipped to a final round of 82 to fall back to 20-over for the 54-hole tournament.

The Carton House man carded six bogeys and two double bogeys, making doubles at 16 and 17 for the second successive day.

At the top, Korea’s Lee cruised to an emphatic fourteen shot win.

Lee carded a two-over 74 to end the week on four-under with serial winner Kipp Popert unable to apply any pressure as he stumbled to a ten-over 82 to finish in a share of second on plus ten with Wayne Perske.

“I feel so good. It was a similar feeling (to his win in the US) when the putt went in at the end,” said Lee after his debut Australian All Abilities Championship win.

“I just tried to hold on to grips tightly and then keep thinking in my mind, ‘I can do it, I can do it, I can do it’.

“I am very happy and I want thank to my parents, my grandmother and grandfather in Korea, and all my sponsors.”
