14 not in for Bryson – Irish Golfer Magazine

Must read

It’s quickly become a morning ritual. Wake, make coffee, head to Bryson DeChambeau’s Instagram…..

The undisputed king of content – among the genuine pro ranks at least – has viewers enthralled as he attempts to make a hole-in-one by hitting from a mat in the front yard, over his house, to a green in the back yard, with some hoping to see him make it and others hoping to see him punch a hole in the glass-fronted palatial abode.

Day one began with one ball and one attempt, day two had two, and so forth, up to the 14 attempts he had on Monday.

Spoiler alert – he’ll be back for 15 tries.

But the task is becoming tougher, as the balls remain where they come to rest and two of his 14 efforts collided with balls perched just in front of the cup. Would they have gone in? It’s one of the great unanswerable questions of our time, but up until now at least, it’s been a two-man operation with Bryson hitting the shots and a camera man on the rooftop recording the action.

Maybe it’s time for DeChambeau enterprises to start advertising for an employee to remove potential blockers from the green, or maybe he’s determined to let Lady Luck determine his fate. After all, it’s likely that a fortuitous ricochet could send a ball destined to miss into a subterranean state.

Would that mar the achievement? Or would it be a poetic and fitting end to a ludicrously fun challenge if that’s the way he makes it?

Either way, it’s manna from heaven in the quiet winter months.
