Michael O’Neill is confident his young Northern Ireland team has what it takes to compete in World Cup qualifying in 2025, believing a key factor in the success of the campaign will come down to how much the players will be playing at club level.

Ahead of Friday’s draw for the World Cup groups, O’Neill was in a relaxed mood speaking to the Belfast Telegraph about his reflections on 2024 in which Northern Ireland produced eye-catching performances home and away and earned promotion to Section B in the Nations League.
