Adam Idah Gave Quick Response To Question About Ireland Teammate Joining Him At Celtic | Balls.ie

Must read

Adam Idah finally made his long awaited return to Celtic this week, with the Irishman completing a permanent move from Norwich City.

The Scottish champions were incredibly keen to bring the Cork man to the club this summer, having been impressed with his performances while on loan at the club in the second half of last season. However, his parent club would play hardball when it came to negotiations.

Celtic were eventually forced to part with a fee of up to £9.5million in order to get the deal over the line, although they will hope that this amount will prove to be good value over the coming seasons.

They will also be looking to add further to the squad over the coming weeks, with the club linked with another Ireland international in recent weeks.

Dara O’Shea has been heavily linked with a move away from Burnley this summer, with a number of teams said to be interested in his services after the club’s relegation from the Premier League last season.

It was recently suggested that Brentford were close to signing the centre back, although those negotiations have reportedly hit a snag. Brendan Rodgers is said to be incredibly keen to bring the player to Celtic, a venture that could be aided by the signing of his one of his closest friends.

Adam Idah is very close to O’Shea, with the Burnley man leaving a congratulatory message on the striker’s Instagram after his move to Celtic. The pair even went on holiday together over the summer.

Speaking at his Celtic unveiling, Idah admitted that the pair had grown close over the last number of years. However, he would give a very quick response when asked if the Dubliner could follow him to Glasgow before the end of the transfer window.

Idah: I was actually on holidays with Dara in the summer. He’s a fantastic player and he’s up there. He scored the other night, so he’s a great player.

Reporter: Could he join you at Celtic?

Idah: It’s down to his agent that.

He certainly didn’t rule it out.

Celtic’s chances of landing Dara O’Shea could come down to the finances of the deal, with Burnley likely to seek a fee in excess of the £7million they paid to sign the defender last summer. Premier League sides would certainly have more spending power, although it remains to be seen what the player’s preference on any potential move would be.
