BALLINDERRY’s supporters will remember well the trip down to Croke Park in 2002, when they were the kings of the club game.
The Shamrocks have the chance to take that trip to Dublin again if they get past the stiff opposition of Austin Stacks of Kerry in the semi-final of the All-Ireland Club Intermediate Football Championship.
The Derry side found themselves in the second tier of club football after the county championship was restructured in the Oak Leaf county.
Ballinderry have secured their return to the top level of Derry football once again and impressed in the Ulster intermediate championship, defeating Carrickcruppen, Derrylaughan and reigning All-Ireland JFC champions Arva of Cavan.
Austin Stacks took the Fenian Cup after winning the Kerry Intermediate Championship, beating 1-14 to 0-5 in a replay.
Moving onto the Munster IFC, where they disposed of Cork’s Kilshannig in the semi-final and Clare’s Aherlow in the final on the way to taking the championship and sealing their place in the All-Ireland semi-final stages.

The AIB All-Ireland Intermediate Football Championship semi-final between Ballinderry Shamrocks and Austin Stacks will take place at O’Connor Park in Tullamore, Co Offaly on Saturday, January 4.
Throw-in is scheduled for 1pm.
