Bangladesh completed a 3-0 one-day international series victory over Ireland as Sharmin Akter’s 72 helped the dominant hosts win by seven wickets with 12.3 overs to spare.
In a repeat performance from game two on Saturday, Ireland were unable to score enough with the bat to put Bangladesh under pressure in Mirpur.
Captain Gaby Lewis did hit 52 but Ireland’s best partnership was the 48 put on for the second wicket by the skipper and Amy Hunter.
Hunter’s departure for 23 after being trapped lbw by Rabeya Khan left the tourists on 57-2 after 19.1 overs.
Lewis and Orla Prendergast (27) then produced a partnership of 40 but wickets tumbled after the skipper was bowled by Fahima Khatun, who finished with figures of 3-43 from her 10 overs.
Bangladesh lost Murshida Khatun early in their reply but Akter and Saturday’s batting star Fargana Hoque Pinky took the game totally away from the Irish by producing a partnership of 143.
Akter was eventually dismissed by Aimee Maguire in the 33rd over with Hoque Pinky departing two overs later for 61, with Maguire again claiming the wicket.
Nigar Sultana Joty (18) and Sobhana Mostary (seven) steered the hosts to their third emphatic victory of the series.
A three-match T20 series between the countries begins in Sylhet on Thursday with the remaining games on Saturday and next Monday.
