From the 23rd to 25th of September Brendan Lawlor will host the first disability golf event with a €35,000 prize fund in Carton House Golf Club.

Eleven of the best disability golfers in the world will tee it up in the three-day event which will also be played as a pro-am competition to raise funds for charity.

The cost of entering a pro-am team will be €1000 and each team will consist of one professional, one celebrity and two amateurs of which there will be 24 teams.

The aim of the event is to help promote disability golf and encourage organisations to put up prize funds for disability events in the future as the G4D Tour at present does not have prize funds.

“This is the first ever disability event with a substantial prize fund and this has been in the making for quite a while,” said Lawlor.

“We worked closely with Modest Golf, Carton House and Golf Ireland and some great organisations to get this over the line. The message we want to show to organisations is that just because we have disabilities doesn’t mean we can’t earn prize money from the beautiful game.

“We have 12 fantastic players coming to the event and some huge celebrities from Ireland and the UK coming across to support the event.”
