Brittany Ferries are set to double their services between Rosslare Europort and Cherbourg.

Brittany Ferries is set to double its weekly services between Rosslare Europort and Cherbourg in France, in a move that has been warmly welcomed by port management.

For November, the company will run four services each way between Wexford and Cherbourg, doubling the two that had been in place up to this point, and this will increase even further to five each way services at the end of the month.

This latest news comes just a month after Stena Line decided withdrew its 1,300 capacity cruise ferry, The Stena Vision, from the Rosslare to Cherbourg route, reverting to a three-day week passenger and freight service on board the Stena Horizon.

At a time when rivals are pulling back, it seems Brittany Ferries are willing to invest further in the route and it was a move welcomed by all at Rosslare Europort.

“The success of our partnership with Brittany Ferries goes from strength to strength with Brittany Ferries announcement that it will more than double services on the Rosslare Europort/Cherbourg route,” said Glenn Carr, Director of Commercial Business Units for Iarnród Éireann – Port Authority for Rosslare Europort.

He said that the new Brittany Services will also benefit from the “unprecedented developments” ongoing to modernise the port.

“Our new freight and passenger check-in facilities have opened, supported by our new state of the art SmartPort system,” Mr Carr explalined.

“The port environment is currently being transformed through our Masterplan investment and the T7 Border Control Post development in partnership with the Office of Public Works.”

A state of the art passenger check-in facility recently opened at Rosslare Europort, allowing a seamless transition from land to sea for all port users and it’s being regarded as a major milestone in the €170 million, 29 building master plan development.

Among the works to come are 14,000m2 of new queuing lanes, new passenger rest and recreation facilities, new passenger information systems and a smarter and more efficient check-in experience.
