Must read

Buncrana Golf Club has launched its Drive It Home car draw, where one lucky winner could be driving off with a new Hyundai i30N Line from Diver’s Hyundai.

The initiative aims to raise funds to invest in the future of Buncrana Golf Club, including the refurbishment of the clubhouse. Tickets will be on sale for 16 weeks and the draw will be held on Saturday, August 31.

The Drive It Home Car Draw offers a substantial prize pool of €41,000, so supporters of the draw are in with a chance to win valuable prizes while supporting the club. The top prize is a red Hyundai i30N Line from Diver’s Hyundai, while second prize is €5,000. Cash prizes are also up for grabs for third, fourth and fifth prizes. Tickets are priced at one for €25, three for €50 and seven for €100.

Launching the draw, captain of Buncrana Golf Club Shane Devlin urged the local community to rally behind the draw, emphasising its significance for the club’s future.

“The Drive It Home Car Draw represents the next step in future-proofing Buncrana Golf Club and our commitment to the community. The present clubhouse was opened in April 2004 and after twenty years, it’s in need of refurbishment. The funds raised will go towards the refurbishment of the main function room; this will benefit the whole community as the space is used by various local community groups free of charge throughout the year. Extra lockers will also be put in the basement for younger members.

As one of Ireland’s premier golf clubs, Buncrana Golf Club is known for its picturesque course, vibrant community, and commitment to excellence. The club is unique from other golf clubs, as it is a community project and promotes golf to the average family. The ethos of the club and committee is to encourage the game of golf to all, not just the elite.

One of the organisers of the draw, Pius McFadden said: “Buncrana Golf Club is the oldest nine-hole links courses in Ireland and is a community golf club. The course is maintained to the highest standard and the club operates on a non-profit making basis that provides a low-cost golfing facility for the local community, surrounding area and visitors. A committee made up of members runs the club on a voluntary basis and the membership fees are maintained at the lowest possible rate to promote the game of golf to everyone. We have seen a significant increase in membership over the last number of years and our current facilities are struggling to cater for the demand, so this development is crucial to accommodate our growing club and invest in the future.”
