Carlow Special Olympics Football Club selected to represent Ireland in international tournament

Carlow Special Olympics Football Club is delighted to announce that the club has been selected to represent Ireland in the Special Olympics Meeting Reus (Barcelona) 2024. Carlow Special Olympics Football Club has been invited to a prestigious international soccer tournament in Barcelona. They have been chosen to represent Ireland in the tournament which kicks off in October. This is an unprecedented honour for the club, as the entire Irish squad of 11 will be represented by Carlow club athletes.

The squad will be accompanied by 2 coaches and a head of delegation.
Coach Paddy Cahill is excited by the opportunity for his players to show off their skills on on international stage:
“This team have put in an incredible amount of work over the last few years and have been performing very well in their regional competitions. This invitation is well deserved and a great opportunity for the lads to show off their skills on the international stage. I have no doubt they will perform with great passion and take great pride in representing their country. As well as the hard work and determination of our players, we have had serious commitment from all our volunteers, and this is a great reward for all involved. I would love to see all the community get
together and support as best they can. This is a great news story for Carlow sports.”
Carlow Special Olympics Club was founded in 2005 and currently has over 100 athletes in 5 sports, football, basketball, swimming, bowling and athletics.
This trip requires a massive fund raising effort and we would be very grateful for any support the commmunity can offer, cash donations to the gofundme link attached and raffle prizes for a
planned big raffle this Summer. The draw will take place during a quiz night on Thursday July
25th in the Talbot Hotel.
