Central Bank of Ireland Deputy Governor meets Longford business representatives

The Central Bank of Ireland Deputy Governor Vasileios Madouros met community members and business representatives in Longford last week as part of their regional outreach tour.

Vasileios, who was appointed Deputy Governor, Monetary and Financial Stability in November 2022, first met with Longford Chamber Commerce where he heard from entrepreneurs and about the many challenges facing local businesses.

He then visited leading steel manufacturing company Kiernan Steel where he was given a tour of their premises by the Kiernan family.

Vasileios also had the chance to visit Glennon Brothers, a third-generation timber processing business, where company directors Pat and Mike Glennon showed him the latest in manufacturing much-needed timber frame homes.

Vasileios expressed a big thank you to everyone in Longford for their warm welcome. “It is great to see so much energy and enterprise happening in Ireland’s heartlands.”

Vasileios is an ex-officio Member of the Central Bank Commission  and is the Governor’s alternate at the Governing Council of the European Central Bank.
