Clare County Council has confirmed the free screening of the All-Ireland Hurling Final in Ennis next Sunday.
The All-Ireland hurling final will see Clare and Cork go head to head in Croke Park on Sunday, July 21, at 3.30pm.
For those unable to Croke Park, Clare County Council announced the match will be broadcast at Active Ennis Tim Smythe Park, Fair Green, Ennis, with entertainment from 1pm.
The event will be free, non-ticket, and alcohol-free. Entry and exit will be via the normal points, with additional parking available on Sunday at Áras Contae an Chláir from 11am until 7pm.
There will be no road closures for the event and the normal Sunday parking arrangements will be in place around Ennis.
Mayor of Ennis, Fianna Fáil Councillor Clare Colleran Molloy told the Irish Independent the council decided to set up the event after last year’s success.
As a Clare fan, Cllr Molloy is hopeful the Banner will deliver a repeat of their 2013 performance when they defeated Cork after a replay.
She said: “It’s a huge day for County Clare, there’s great excitement building”.
“Last time I think there was easily 1,000 people, and it [Tim Smythe Park] has such great capacity, so God only knows how many will actually attend. It all depends on the weather.
The Ennis Mayor added: “It’s an event for the whole of the county, also for families to come and enjoy their own picnic. There will be no entrance fee, there will be face painting for the kids, and there will be music and entertainment from 1pm.”
