Dave’s Hot Chicken claims to be the fastest-growing restaurant chain in the US with more than 230 stores

Dave’s Hot Chicken, the rapidly growing fast-food phenomenon which counts rapper Drake and Samuel L Jackson among its celebrity backers, is eyeing up Ireland as part of its rapid expansion.

The chain plans to open 60 of its spicy-fowl focused outlets across the UK and Ireland and has partnered with restaurant investor Azzurri — which counts Irish burrito outlet Boojum among its restaurant assets.

A spokesperson said that Irish outlets were part of the plan but it was too early to say how many.

Having begun as an east Hollywood pop-up in 2017, it now claims to be the fastest-growing chain in the US with more than 230 stores and a core customer base that it describes as “Gen Z and millennial males”.

“We know there is an opportunity to make Dave’s Hot Chicken one of the iconic restaurant brands, and we do that by partnering with incredible operators, like Azzurri Group,” said Dave’s Hot Chicken CEO Bill Phelps.

The partnership comes as Wendy’s, one of the original giants of the US fast-food market, has confirmed that it will begin opening restaurants in Ireland from the beginning of next year.
