New housing report, same old solution – bend Ireland Inc into whatever shape is required to catch the eye of international investors who’ll throw a new pot of cash at the problem.

A new report from the Department of Finance has concluded that Ireland needs the guts of €17bn, mostly from external investors, to plug the gap between what the State will fund and a housing need for around 50,000 homes a year.
