Laois

Big miss for Laois.

Mark Barry was the man they would have wanted on the ball but his left footed effort tails wide, just when they needed a point.

Mark Barry gives Laois a lifeline with an absolute screamer.

The wing forward runs onto a break and lashes it into the top corner from 30 yards. The Down goalkeeper O’Hare barely even saw the ball as it flashed by him.

Down are kicking for home.

A strong run from Pierce Laverty breaks the line and the ball is given back to Fegan, who kicks them five clear.

Pat Havern slots a free – their first of the day.

The tiredness is telling for Laois, who are resorting to fouls.

Caolan Mooney bursts through and kicks a point.

Hawk-eye was required but the technology ruled in his favour, putting them three to the good.

Down score after another fast break-away.

Peter Fegan applies the finishing touch at the end of a good team-move. Laois have had a few chances but have failed to take them.

Magill’s impact continues.

A Laois kick-pass is dispossessed and Down make the turn-over count, with the sub scoring his second in a row. It’s another sweet one off the left.

Danny Magill makes an instant impact, levelling the game up with a fine point from distance.

Laois are back in front.

Some sloppiness from Down is costing them and tide is beginning to turn.
