Sean Hurson spots Cillian McDaid is beling held off the ball by John Small. Shane Walsh duly obliges to fire over from the edge of the 13-metre arc.

Sean Bugler feeds James McCarthy who fails to gather the ball around his ankles. Dylan McHugh intervenes to win a valuable turnover and free out for Padraic Joyce’s side.

More joy for the Cuala man who takes the mark and fires over  to make it 0-2 for his personal tally up to this point.

Cein Darcy has been involved in two of Galway’s last scores, this time feeding Shane Walsh who fires over a jaw-dropping point from underneath the Hogan Stand terrace.

A huge blow for Galway and Padraic Joyce as their captain limps from the field to be replaced by Cein Darcy.

Cein D’Arcy finds Johnny Maher in a pocket of space to keep the Tribesmen within touching distance of the reigning All-Ireland champions.

Cormac Costello guides the subsequent ’45 between the posts.

Damien Comer fails to keep the ball in play on the Hogan Stand sideline. Con O’Callaghan jinks inside his marker but a slight block brings it down to earth. Connor Gleeson can’t prevent the ball going out over his endline so it will be a ’45 to Dublin.

The Whitehall Colmcille club man makes no mistake with a free in at the Canal End.

He used every inch of the gap available as Shane Walsh avails of the left post to squeeze his free over.

Paul Mannion fouls Sean Mulkerrin who backed himself against the Dublin forward to win the free in.

Next to join in on the action is Cormac Costello who cuts back and hooks an accurate right-footed curling effort between the uprights. Dublin have started to open up a bit of a lead at this early juncture.

Sean Fitzgerald is left chasing shadows as Sean Bugler fires the ball over Connor Gleeson’s crossbar.

Sean Mulkerrin pops the ball off to Damien Comer who sets his sights on the posts from the left side. After a brief Hawkeye check, the effort is waved wide.

John Small is blocked down by Dylan McHugh expertly, however the ball fortuitously bounces in the direction of Ciaran Kilkenny who wastes no time in deftly clipping it between the posts.

Robbie Finnerty kicks Galway’s first wide of the match. It has been an electric start to the game as both sides seem to be full of flair and creativity in these opening exchanges.

Con O’Callaghan free up space to collect and handpasses to his right where Brian Fenton continues his run. The midfielder could have gone for goal but opted to clip it over the bar

What a score from Shane Walsh who takes on John Small, jinked inside the Ballymun Kickhams man and drives over the crossbar.

The Dublin full-forward fields a high ball and takes the mark to tap over from 20 metres.

A beautiful opening score from Paul Mannion who runs the loop play with Niall Scully to clip it over with his weaker right foot.
