With rounds one and two being held on Saturday after inclement weather on Friday, American Scott Dunlap is the man to catch at the Insperity Invitational on the PGA Tour Champions circuit where a second round 70 added to his opening 65 to leave him on nine-under, one shot ahead of Joe Durant and Stuart Appleby.
Dunlap is chasing his second PGA Tour Champions victory (his first was 2014 at the Boeing Classic) and will be looking over his shoulder at defending champion Steven Alker who is only two shots behind him on 7-under par and is bidding to win the same event in three consecutive seasons.
Durant hasn’t cracked the top-30 in his last three starts but opened with back-to-back 68’s while Stuart Appleby hit 13 of 14 fairways is the afternoon on Saturday as he went bogey free.
Darren Clarke is sitting in T7 place, four shots adrift of Dunlap after a second round of 70 (-2) while Padraig Harrington’s level par return sees him in T19 place on two-under par.
