800,000 golf fans across Europe to read all about Northern Ireland’s world-class golf

Around 800,000 golf fans across Europe – and potential golf holidaymakers for Northern Ireland – are set to read all about our superb courses, following a visit by leading golf journalists from Germany, Sweden and Denmark. The journalists were here as guests of Tourism Ireland and Tourism Northern Ireland.

Ahead of the Irish Open this September, the group had the opportunity to test their skills at Royal County Down. They also played the Dufferin course at Clandeboye Golf Club and Ardglass. The group stopped off at Holywood Golf Club and visited the Cathedral Quarter in Belfast and Downpatrick.

Siobhan McManamy, Tourism Ireland’s Director of Markets, said:“Golf is the world’s largest sports-related travel market, so we were delighted to invite these leading golf journalists to Northern Ireland to experience some of our top courses for themselves. Their print and online articles will reach around 800,000 golf fans, so their visit is a really good opportunity to showcase our fantastic golf offering to a wide audience of prospective European golf holidaymakers.

“The Irish Open at Royal County Down Golf Club in September, the return of The Open to Royal Portrush in 2025 and the hosting of the Ryder Cup at Adare Manor in 2027 are key messages for Tourism Ireland in our golf promotions overseas. We know that the combination of our world-class golf and our unique brand of hospitality plays a key role in attracting golfers from across Europe.”
