Ireland striker Evan Ferguson is gearing up for a potential first competitive start since November, and he’s feeling good about his chances.
As he prepares to face Finland on Thursday, Ferguson took a break from his training schedule to sit down with us at the FC25 launch in London.
The Brighton player, who has been working his way back from an ankle injury, shared his thoughts on his gaming habits, his teammates’ skills, and his experiences with his club and country.
Our man John Sharpson was in London at the global launch of FC 25, chatting to Evan Ferguson about the new game and life at Brighton and Ireland since the arrivals of Fabian Hürzeler and Heimir Hallgrímsson☘️

Do you consider yourself an FC player?
I’m not big into it, but my game is Pro Clubs, not Ultimate Teams. I’ll be there for Pro Clubs.
How do you feel about your rating of 74 in the game this year?
It’s not bad, it could be better, but I’ll take it for now.
Who is the best FC player on the Brighton team?
I’d say, Veltman, Joel Veltman. He is probably the biggest gamer we have, so yeah, I’d say him.
Who is the best player at the game on the Irish international team?
Sammie Szmodics, maybe. He’s up there, a big gamer, I think.
Would he be boastful about his gaming skills?
He’d let you know if he’s beaten you in a game.
How is it playing under a new manager at Brighton?
It’s interesting, because you’re coming into a new start, and a new start for me, obviously being out injured. I’m coming back into it really, really fresh, so it’s good. He has got new ideas, and I think we will have a good season.
Does the new manager’s younger age make a difference?
Maybe a little bit, yeah. We’ll see in a few years, but he’s good. There’s only a certain amount you can know.
How has the changeover been with the new Irish manager?
It’s been good. We’ve put a plan together on what we need to do and what we need to work on. Hopefully, we can get back to qualifying for some tournaments soon.
What’s it like stepping out onto the pitch at the Aviva Stadium?
It’s indescribable. You go to watch the games when you’re younger, and you think, “I want to be out there.” When you actually do it, it’s a good moment.
If you were to play FC25 right now, what team would you play with?
Real Madrid. Easy.
With the FC25 launch in the books, Evan Ferguson is now shifting his focus to the Republic of Ireland’s match against Finland on Thursday. We wish him the best of luck on and off the pitch.
