A talented crew from Ferrycarrig Rowing Club are celebrating this week after powering their way to a gold medal in the All-Ireland championships held in Dingle, Co. Kerry.

Liam Bohan (18), Killian Lett-McGuinness (17), Cian Martin (15) and Jim Carty (18), with coxswain Victor Bridges, were unstoppable in the Novice men’s race and, just for good measure, they also captured silver medals in the Under-18 category.

Over 550 rowing teams from around the country took part in horrendous weather conditions.

However, it was no deterrent to these brave young lads, as they faced the wild Atlantic head on and rowed with every ounce of energy they had.

Their next event will be the prestigious Great River Rowing Race on the Thames in London – a task they will approach with considerable relish after savouring that sweet winning feeling in Dingle.
