The Crescent Shopping Centre in Limerick has partnered with Focus Ireland once again this Christmas to launch a pop-up free gift-wrapping shop, where shoppers can have their gifts wrapped in exchange for a donation to Focus Ireland.
The event kicked off on Sunday, December 8th, with the arrival of the Coca-Cola Truck at 2 PM to mark the launch.
Focus Ireland’s Community Fundraising Officer, Maura McMahon, said of the pop-up shop, which runs daily from December 8th to 24th, “This kind of support is what allows Focus Ireland to continue our vital work of tackling homelessness and supporting people at risk of losing their homes. We’re especially grateful to Crescent Shopping Centre for standing with us during this time of heightened need, with the ongoing housing and cost-of-living crisis placing many more families at risk.”
McMahon continued, “Without the essential housing and services Focus Ireland provides, the situation for the 452 people in emergency accommodation in Limerick would be far worse. We are calling on the public to lend their support so we can continue to be there for those who need us most.”
Eimear Dwan, Marketing Manager of Crescent Shopping Centre, added, “In what continues to be a challenging time for many in our community, Crescent Shopping Centre is delighted to support Focus Ireland in their efforts to combat homelessness. We encourage all our visitors to avail of the Gift Wrap Service, where every donation makes a difference to individuals and families in Limerick who are most in need this Christmas.”
Focus Ireland works across the country to support individuals and families experiencing homelessness or at risk of losing their homes. The charity firmly believes that homelessness is wrong, not just because it is a failure of society, but because it is entirely preventable and solvable with collective action.
The Crescent Gift Wrapping Shop is proudly supported by Penneys, who have generously provided wrapping paper again this year additionally Carraig Donn have provided décor contributions.
