Gaelscoil teacher represented Ireland at World Squash event in Hong Kong – News – Carlow Nationalist

Must read

THE GAELSCOIL was a sea of green, white and orange recently, with Irish flags, hats and scarves everywhere … and while it may have looked like St Patrick’s Day had come early, the children had another very proud reason to be wearing the national colours!

The whole school gathered to wish An Múinteoir Ciara Ní Mhaoldomhnaigh Uí Dhubchanna well, following her selection for the Irish squash team.

Squash Ireland selected both men’s and women’s teams for the recent WSF World Team Squash Championships in Hong Kong, which took place from 9-15 December. Ciara was joined on the women’s team by Hannah Craig, Breanne Flynn and Hannah McGugan. It is a huge honour for the team to be selected, as it is the first time in ten years for the ladies Irish team to compete in the event.

A star squash player, Ciara has previously captured national and international honours since she began playing the sport as a child.

The Gaelscoil children were also delighted to watch some of the matches online.
