SHANE DUFFY has paid tribute to ‘the most special dog in the world’ as he shared the sad news of his pet Cali’s death.
The Ireland veteran shared a sweet photo of them together while informing followers of his news.
He captioned it: “Rest easy baby girl you were the most special dog in the world to our family we are gonna miss you so much.”
Norwich City supporters as well as Irish fans were quick to express their condolences upon hearing the depressing development.
One person accurately summed up how hard the death of a pet can hit despite knowing they never live that long.
They wrote: “I feel for you Shane. We roughly know a dog’s lifespan when we get it but when that day comes it’s devastating.”

Meanwhile another animal lover added: “RIP Cali.
“It’s the day I dread as having two pups. It would be like them losing their companion.”
Lastly Kirsty posted: “So sorry for your loss Shane, dogs are family too.”
The 32-year-old has endured a tough summer as in May he was charged with drink driving following an accident.
Thankfully, no injuries were sustained but he wound up being slapped with a three-year ban from driving over it.
The court heard that he had crashed into a parked car before knocking on the door of a nearby house and admitting to doing so and asking if he could wait for the police there.
He still lined out for The Canaries in their Championship play-off defeat to Leeds United later that month.
John O’Shea also opted to select him for the June international window.
At the time the then-interim boss gave his reasoning for still having Duffy be involved.
He said: “I spoke to Shane just to see where he was in terms of the end of the season, stuff that had gone on.
“He was unequivocal in terms of his passion to play for Ireland and be involved.
“It’s obviously not good but we have to support people as well.
“He’s been a big player for Ireland and it’s important to support people too. He will have that support with Ireland.”
Asked if he was concerned about how his selection would be viewed, O’Shea said: “That’s part and parcel of life.
“People make mistakes but they have the chance to redeem themselves as well.”
