The game between the United States of America and Ireland, slated to take place on Friday got abandoned due to rain. This meant that Pakistan has been officially knocked out of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

Pakistan’s fate in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 was dependent on the result between the Unitedoo States of America and Ireland. If the Irish team had won the game, it would’ve kept Babar Azam-led side in the tournament. Pakistan still needed to win their final league match against Ireland to go through.
However, with the game between the United States of America and Ireland getting washed out, Pakistan are officially out.
United States of America now have five points and the maximum Pakistan can get to is four points as they have lost two games already.

It is a huge achievement by the USA team who were ranked 18th in the world prior to the tournament start, and also playing in their first World Cup.
USA beat Canada in the tournament opener, shocked Pakistan in a super over and then put on a creditable performance against India.
Ireland lost their two preceding group matches but have the chance of a consolation win against Pakistan on Sunday.
