WILL FERRY hopes the exposure he is getting in Scottish football will win him an Ireland call.
The 23-year-old full-back has been a revelation since joining Dundee United from Cheltenham Town in the summer.
Ferry has represented Ireland — who he qualifies for through his grandad — at Under-19 and Under-21 level but has not received a full senior cap yet.
And he is hoping to catch new boss Heimir Hallgrimsson’s eye playing in the Scottish Premiership.
He said: “Down the road Scottish football isn’t quite respected as much as it should be but I’ve always followed it in terms of having friends up here.
“You’re getting loads of exposure because you’re on TV regularly.

“I think I’ve played on telly once in my whole career until I’ve come up here, so you get exposure and it is a really well-followed league.
“There’s boys coming up here, players moving on to Serie A, getting big moves and impressing.
“And on a personal note, if I was to play well and impress, I’d feel like I’d have more chance of getting international recognition here than I would in League One.
“So hopefully I will impress and catch the eye of the international manager.
“I’ve played Under-19 and Under-21 for Ireland but not seniors.
“I qualify through my dad’s side to my grandad. I’ve not really been anywhere near it since, so hopefully I do well and it opens the door for me.
“Obviously I’ve got to do well first before I start thinking about that, but that was a big selling point in terms of what the gaffer pitched to me.
“He said it’s a good chance to get in and around it and get eyes on you, which can be difficult in League One where I was.”
Newly promoted United got their first top-flight win of the season on Saturday, beating St Johnstone 2-0.
Their opening goal was created and scored by three of their summer signings, with Kristijan Trapanovski, David Babunski and Luca Stephenson all combining.

Boss Jim Goodwin — a man who won one senior cap for the Boys in Green back in 2003 — has had a radical overhaul of his squad in the last few months.
But they have gelled quickly to go eight unbeaten since their opening day Premier Sports Cup loss to Falkirk.
England-born Ferry said: “We’ve all settled in quite quickly.
“David and Kristijan got put straight in and have made an impact, Vicko Sevelj as well and also Jort van der Sande up front.
“I think the fact that everyone’s been thrown in straight away shows that they’re ready to go.
“They’re obviously taking the gaffer’s information on board.
“Everyone’s all on the same page immediately, and I think it shows on the pitch.”
