Injury concern over Mark Adair casts cloud on Lisburn’s T20 Cup Semi-Final success

Must read

Playing his second game of the weekend after finally making his Lisburn debut on Saturday, Adair ‘heard a click’ when attempting to prevent a boundary in the 11th over of the CIYMS innings and was immediately helped from the field.

A scan will determine the extent of the injury, but the worst-case scenario is that he misses the Test match against Zimbabwe, which starts a month on Monday.

He was present with his hamstring strapped to enjoy the celebrations after their last-over victory over his old club, with James Hunter the star, hitting seven sixes and seven fours in his 81.

Waringstown won the first Semi against Woodvale by 12 runs thanks to skipper Greg Thompson’s 82 not out from 78 balls, 31 of them in the last two overs.

The Sportshub Senior Cup Final will be between Donemana and beaten Finalists in 2023 Newbuildings, who gained revenge for that defeat by Brigade in Sunday’s Semi-Final at Foyleview.

Newbuildings professional Samarth Seth hit all but two of his 52 runs in boundaries, dominating the third wicket stand of 84 with Ryan Hunter, who completed the chase at the start of the 22nd over.

Jason Dunn set up the victory with five of the wickets as Brigade were bowled out for 142.

Gary Neely is just five months short of his 50th birthday, but the Ireland international had the remarkable figures of 6-5-5-3 as Eglinton were dismissed for 119 in the other Semi-Final. The McClintock brothers eased Donemana to their target with an undefeated third wicket stand of 95 in 74 balls.

North Down must make the long trip to Cork County for their Irish Cup Quarter-Final after beating Balbriggan by six wickets, with Mo Aahil’s finishing exactly 100 not out.
