Ireland INC, the platform for promoting Irish business interests and investment across the United States, will honour US Ambassador to Ireland, Claire Cronin, with an Outstanding Contribution to US Ireland Partnership award at the Principals Club dinner, taking place at the Hibernian Club, Dublin, on Tuesday, 12th November.

This inaugural award is being created to mark the centenary of diplomatic and economic relations between the United States and Ireland and is being presented to Ambassador Cronin to recognise her support of and partnership with the US Ireland relationship during her tenure as United States Ambassador to Ireland. Ambassador Cronin’s work to elevate economic relations between the two countries has resulted in greater engagement, investment across the United States and the communication of the importance of Irish business’s investment in the United States as the eight largest Foreign Direct Investor in the US.

Ambassador Cronin was nominated by President Joe Biden as United States Ambassador in June 2021 and ultimately presented her credentials to President Michael D. Higgins in February 2022. Prior to her appointment, Ambassador Cronin served as a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives and was the first woman to serve as House Majority Leader. She is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts and also before the United States Supreme Court.

Ambassador Cronin has spent much of her tenure building ties with communities across the island of Ireland including in County Donegal, where Ambassador Cronin’s grandfather was born.

She has also embraced Ireland’s history and heritage and celebrated many of the key milestones in our economic and political evolution. In June 2024, Ambassador Cronin facilitated a meeting of major participants of the Northern Ireland peace process. She invited US Senator George Mitchell; Sir Reg Empey, former leader of the Ulster Unionist Party; Gerry Adams, former president of Sinn Fein and Bertie Ahern, former Taoiseach of Ireland. It was, she said at the time, “a reunion of The Band”.

This special award will be presented at the upcoming Principals Club Leaders Dinner on Tuesday, November 12th at the Hibernian Club, St Stephen’s Green, Dublin.
