Last week in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Tourism Ireland was joined by four tourism companies from Ireland at the annual Global Travel Marketplace (GTM). This three-day event featured a series of personalized one-on-one appointments and networking opportunities designed specifically for these participants. It provided an ideal setting for Irish tourism representatives to make valuable connections.
The main objective of GTM is to ensure Ireland remains a preferred choice among top travel advisors from North America, who influence a significant number of tourist decisions. By engaging directly with these influential advisors, the participating companies from Ireland aim to boost tourism and ensure that Ireland is a top recommendation for their clients looking for their next travel destination.
Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland’s Head of North America, said:“Our presence at this year’s GTM in Florida was another excellent platform to inspire influential North American travel professionals about the island of Ireland and the many great things to see and do. Events like this provide a valuable opportunity for Tourism Ireland and our partners to connect and network with travel professionals who have the potential to bring valuable tourists to the island, helping to secure a greater share of their business for Ireland in 2024 and beyond.”

Tourism remains a crucial sector for us. In 2023, international tourism to Ireland saw a significant recovery, marking the first full year of operations since the pandemic. This resurgence generated approximately €6 billion in revenue. This economic boost supported 300,000 essential jobs across various communities, solidifying tourism as one of the island’s most significant indigenous industries.
