In a mega announcement, Cricket Ireland (CI) has announced that the Irish team will travel to Pakistan in August-September window next year i.e 2025 for a monumental Test series.

Pakistan cricket team is currently touring Ireland for a three-game T20 series to prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup scheduled from June 2.

Ireland upset the visitors in the first game to claim a staggering five-wicket victory. However, the Men in Green bounced back quickly to stage a seven-wicket victory comeback in the second game courtesy of Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman’s partnership, aided Azam Khan’s late 10 ball 30* runs cameo.

That being said, after the first T20, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi along with other board officials paid a visit to Ireland to overlook the preparations and to discuss future ties with the Irish cricket board.

After much discussion and multiple meetings, Cricket Ireland chairman, Brian Mac Niece announced that the board will send the Irish team to Pakistan in 2025 during the August-September window for a Test series which will be the only second ever encounter between the two nations in red ball cricket. The duo last played a Test game back in 2018.

While the details of the tour are yet to be announced, it is expected to be a multi-game series with possibilities of a short ODI for the T20 series as well.

That being said, the ongoing three-game series is currently tied 1-1 with the series finale scheduled for Tuesday.

Pakistan have showed massive signs of struggle in this tour where they were expected to dominate and ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024, a series defeat would massively dent the Men in Green’s morale.
