Ireland win gold at IIHF Cup in Slovakia

The Ireland men’s team won gold at the International Ice Hockey Federation Development Cup in Slovakia on Saturday.

Ireland beat Portugal 5-1 in yesterday’s decider in Bratislava.

Raimonds Karpinski, Ronan Weir, Nolan Regan, Declan Weir and Andrew Stefura scored the Irish goals.

The victory completed a clean sweep for the team who had already beaten Brazil, Greece, Colombia, Argentina and Portugal in the group phase.

The Development Cup is the IIHF’s tournament for associate members and was first held in 2017 when Ireland finished second.
